25 Sangria recipes! Review


The blog A Night Owl did a post where they compiled Sangria recipes from not only their blog but other blogs as well. Browsing the list a few caught my eye that I was very interested in. After making a few I decided the Citrus and Basil Sangria was my absolute favorite!

Here is the recipe with a few adjustments that I believe worked out for the better-


1/4 cup water
3 TBSP sugar
10 basil leaves
1 bottle sauvignon blanc
2 blood orange, sliced into thin rounds
1 cara cara, sliced into thin rounds
8 strawberries, sliced
1 lemon, skin peeled into strips and added – save juice for another use
1/4 cup brandy
1/4 cup tangerine juice


In a small saucepan combine the water and sugar over high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Turn the heat off and add the basil leaves. Stir the simple syrup to combine and let the basil leaves sit for 20 minutes while the mixture cools.

Meanwhile, in a large pitcher, combine the white wine, italian soda, citrus slices, strawberries, meyer lemon skin, brandy and tangerine juice. Stir to combine. Add the cooled basil simple syrup and stir. Let the sangria hang out for about 1 hour and then serve over ice.


I used a tablespoon less of sugar then what was required in the original recipe because I felt it was too sweet for my taste. I added another blood orange to the recipe as well because I absolutely love eating the fruit from the sangria. I also added more strawberries to the recipe because I realized they taste delicious with the basil.

Spinach and Ricotta White Pizza


Thin crust pizza

1 tablespoon of olive oil

1/2 small red onion thinly sliced

2 cups of fresh spinach

1 cup grated mozzarella

1/2 cup ricotta

1 tablespoon grated parmigiano reggiano

salt and pepper to taste

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder


red pepper flakes if you want a little kick to your pizza


Preheat the over to 450 degrees and place the pizza stone or pan in the oven while it is preheating (this ensures that the crust will be cooked all the way through and the pizza won’t be burnt!) Sprinkle flour on the counter and roll out the dough on the counter. Once you have shaped the dough brush the dough with olive oil, paying special attention to the crust. Sprinkle the parmigiano, garlic powder, and salt and pepper over the dough. Scatter the onions, mozzarella and ricotta over the pizza evenly. Place in the oven for 5 minutes. Once 5 minutes has passed pull out the pizza and scatter the spinach and if you so choose, red pepper flakes. Bake for another 3 to 5 minutes. Enjoy!
